Code 4581 is applied to insureds engaged in the processing of phosphate pebble or phosphate rock that is received from others. The pebble or rock is run through a washer, which removes all sand, mud, etc., after which it is crushed, ground, screened and again washed prior to being dried. The material, as it comes from the dryers, may be bagged or bulk-shipped, usually to wet-mixing fertilizer plants. In addition, this classification contemplates the treatment of ground phosphate pebble or rock with sulphuric, phosphoric or nitric acids, which may be received from others or may be manufactured by these insureds, provided the acids are used solely in production of their product. Decomposing ground phosphate with the acids produces a product, i.e., acid phosphate or super phosphate.
