Class Code:
4420
Per NCCI's Scopes Code Description:
Code 4420 is applied to insureds engaged in the manufacture of new rubber tires. Natural and synthetic rubber, carbon black, sulphur-formaldehyde, naphtha, toluol, fiberglass, cotton, rayon, nylon, latex, rubber cement and wire are received from others. Crude rubber is blended with other raw materials and the rubberized mixture is milled to form smooth continuous strips which are run through a tread tubber forming shapes of specified weight, width and profile to be used for the tire tread. The fabrics, which will form the plies of the tire body, are coated with latex and rolled through a calender which presses the rubber to each side in controlled layers of thickness depending on the particular fabric. The impregnated fabrics are rewound and cut to prescribed angles and widths. Wire beads (the sealing edge) are formed by drawing many strands of wire together and impregnating them with rubber.
