Class Code:
4101
Per NCCI's Scopes Code Description:
Code 4101 is applied to insureds engaged in the manufacture of polished plate glass, blown sheet window glass or rolled glass. Limestone, soda ash, sand, borax, salt cake, rouge, broken glass, coloring agents and fine wire mesh are received from others. The basic glass materials are mixed and then melted in furnaces from which the molten glass is poured and blown by machine, or it may be manually blown to form sheet window glass. To form plate or rolled glass, the molten glass passes to heated rolls where it is formed to the desired size plate or wire glass. In wire glass production, wire mesh is sandwiched between two layers of molten glass. The plate or rolled product emerges from the rolls in long sheets or ribbons, which are cooled and then mechanically cut into large sheets.
