Class Code:
3634
Per NCCI's Scopes Code Description:
Code 3634 is applied to insureds engaged in the manufacture of all types of valves. The valves may be small or large, light or heavy, low or high-pressure. This classification is also applied to insureds engaged in the manufacture of automatic sprinkler heads and water meters. Pig iron, scrap iron and brass; alloys of copper, brass and bronze ingots; iron or brass castings and forgings; brass, copper and stainless steel sheet, bar and tubing; plastics and plastic fittings; gauges, bolts, nuts, screws; paint and plating solutions are received from others. While Code 3634 contemplates incidental foundry operations which would involve pattern and mold making and the casting of molten metals, some valve manufacturers do not operate foundries. Castings are machined and metals for fittings are cut to size and machined. The machining involves turning, shaping, drilling, milling, tapping, boring and threading. Parts and castings are then assembled, usually by hand, buffed, polished and in some cases plated or painted.
