Code 3110 is applied to insureds engaged in forging iron or steel shapes such as engine parts, shafts, hooks, chains, etc. Forging refers to the heating of metal in a furnace or hearth and beating or hammering the heated metal into the desired shape as well as forming metal by a mechanical or hydraulic press with or without heat. The classification is also applied to insureds engaged in the production of steel forgings for tools such as screwdrivers, chisels, hammers and other hand tools.
