Code 3085 is applied to foundries engaged in the manufacture of castings from brass, aluminum or other non-ferrous metals for outside customers. The classification includes wood or metal pattern making, core and mold making, melting of the non-ferrous metals in furnaces and the pouring of the molten metal into molds. After the castings are cooled they generally receive some machining to remove burrs or imperfections.
