Per NCCI's Scopes Code Description:
Code 3082 is applied to foundries engaged in the manufacture of steel castings for outside customers. The classification includes wood or metal pattern making, core and mold making and the melting of steel alloys in furnaces. The molten steel is poured into preheated ladles that may be emptied into smaller ladles that empty into the molds. After the castings have solidified, shake out machines remove the castings. The castings generally receive some machining to remove burrs or imperfections. The finished castings are then inspected, packed and shipped.
