Code 4583 is applied to insureds engaged in the manufacture of complete wet or dry fertilizers. These insureds, as part of their operation, may process phosphate pebble or rock received from others by washing, crushing, grinding, screening and drying. This ground phosphate rock is treated with sulphuric, phosphoric or nitric acids to produce acid phosphate or super phosphate. The manufacture of treating acids by wet fertilizer manufacturers is considered incidental to the fertilizer manufacturing process and is classified to Code 4583.
