This classification covers the operation and maintenance of irrigation and drainage systems or canals. This includes the maintenance of pumps, control gates and the cleaning of main and lateral flow lines. The cleaning of ditches, including the spreading or spraying of oil when performed in connection with mosquito control, also falls within Code 0251. The facilities are generally operated for the purpose of supplying water for farming operations or for drainage of excessive surface water from low-lying land for members of a cooperative or individuals.
